The World’s Oldest Rodeo, hosted by Prescott Frontier Days, was first staged on July 4, 1888, in Forbing Park as a “cowboy tournament,” featuring bronc riding, steer roping and horse racing. Rodeo committee officials received a U.S. Registered Trademark on the name, “World’s Oldest Rodeo,” on August 6, 1985, after meeting five criteria. The event is held each July at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds, drawing more than 35,000 spectators annually. It is one of the PRCA’s top 40 prize-money rodeos. The Prescott Frontier Days was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2008.
