Gustafson, Jerry
Jerry Gustafson started his career with a Polaroid camera working as the “official” photographer for his high school. He became one of the top rodeo photographers in the country from 1968—76 and from 1984—88. He shot more than 400 professional, junior, Little Britches, high school, and college rodeos, and amassed a portfolio of more than 2 million photos. Jerry has released a comprehensive book of rodeo photography, Through the Lens of Jerry Gustafson, Rodeo Photography 1970 – 1976. The book celebrates the great cowboys and stock of rodeo’s benchmark period — at the time when it was emerging a professional sport. “I want to thank all the contestants, stock contractors and rodeo committees who made us a part of their family.”
